What is AP, and what do I do with it?
AP, or Assistance Points, are an expendable resource that a players gets for helping out a local game. They’re a way of saying “thank you” for going above and beyond our normal duties as a member of the community. They can be exchanged for various in-game things, as outlined on page 230 of the Survivor’s Guide. See below for a list of ways to earn AP in Kentucky!
Spend some time helping out around camp
Making a weekend in the apocalypse run is a lot of work! We can always use help to make the game better for all of us. During game, you can always volunteer to do some extra NPC hours. Usually, these earn 10 AP per hour. Make sure to bring your character sheet with you so that we can record the hours - if they’re not written down, we don’t know to enter them into the database!
In between game, we spend quite a bit of time working on the campsite to make it better for our game. We can use all kinds of skills to improve the camp, from people to help clean and landscape to electricians and plumbers to improve the facilities. If this is something you’d like to do, send Vladimir an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to figure out the best time to come out to camp.
Donate some props and supplies for the game
Props and costumes really help to make the game more immersive, and there’s always things that we need to use int he office to make the game run behind the scenes. There’s a link to an Amazon wishlist below. You can either order directly from the list and have it mailed to us, or buy it elsewhere and let us know. Either way, you’ll need to email the receipt to Mika at email@example.com so we can add it to the database.
At Dystopia Rising: Kentucky, we are dedicated to creating a safer world, and trying to help to make sure that people have what they need. We offer AP for supporting charities that we think help to do this outside of our game. If you make a donation, please send the receipt to Mika so that she can update your AP balance.
The Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center
Both of these organizations work to combat hate and secure rights for marginalized groups.
As a note, we recognize that there are many charities out there that do a lot of good work. These are simply the ones that we have opted to offer AP for. We fully support our players’ attempts to make their world a better place, no matter the method.
